I’ve been winterizing sprinklers for 30+ years in Metro Detroit. This page explains exactly how I do a safe blowout, what it costs, and what to expect before/after. If you’re ready, book a spot. Call/Text 313-349-1300 • Schedule Online
Why Winterize
Prevent cracked underground lines and split backflows
Avoid flooded yards at spring start-up
Extend the life of valves, heads, and fittings
Michigan’s freeze depth often reaches below irrigation line depth—“drain only” isn’t enough here.
How I Do the Blowout
Shut off & inspect (supply, backflow, drains, zone order)
Hook up safely (regulated pressure; typically ~50–60 PSI for poly, up to ~80 PSI for PVC) with high CFM
Zone-by-zone clearing (60–120 sec each; pause between zones)
Backflow & drains if has cap leave on 1/4 turn. needs to continue to drain.
Controller OFF/ON it doesn’t matter

Pricing
City water systems: $75 up to 8 zones
Pump/Lake/Well systems: priced higher by setup
If I need to pull & disconnect the intake pipe from the water: $125
After the Visit
A little low-point seep for a day or two can be normal
If heads keep spitting under pressure, we’ll check the shut-off/backflow seal together by text
