No—if the basement water is shut off and I have access to the controller, you don’t need to be home.

Controller on or off after winterizing?

For city-water, it can stay ON. For pump/lake/well systems, I disable pump-start so the pump can’t run dry.

What PSI/CFM do you use?

50–60 PSI with high CFM. Volume is what clears the system safely.

Why leave the drain plug loose?

If the shut-off seeps, water drains out instead of back into the system. Check in 24–72 hours; if still dripping, replace the shut-off.

Important: Winterization is not a full inspection (air won’t reveal everything the way water does). If you notice continuous weeping at the drain after 24–72 hours, call; otherwise I’ll see you at spring start-up.
